Hi! My name is Homin Lee, and I was born and raised in the Republic of Korea. I have always had an interest in people and this has evolved into a desire to help other people. Since I was in elementary school, my habit has been sketching things and changing shapes. As I learned more information about product design, my dream developed in the direction of becoming a product designer. That is the main reason I came to the US after graduating high school in Korea.
Before I start studying product design by my major, I thought product designer is just a person who sketching products. However, after I start to study design, I realize that Product designer can provide people living more convenience and better life quality after research and deep thinking. It means good design can be able to serve people better life. That is why I want to be a product designer.
I completed my military service with the 22nd Division in Korea, which is located near the north-east front line at the DMZ, and I was team-leader for 9 months. Patrol GOP was a really challenging time in my life, but, through this experience, I learned about leadership, responsibility and loyalty. I think working for a company requires similar attributes. A product can’t be designed by a single product designer. I have learned how to socialize and work well with others, and also how to lead people if a situation arises where I need to serve as leader. I always take pride in and responsibility for my work, and so I always try to complete tasks to the best of my ability.
